I, on the other hand, have always been wimpy at lifting weights. Proud if I lifted my 10-pound hand weights 20 times without pausing. And even this requires loud, lively music for inspiration.
Thankfully, spiritual strength is easier to acquire. God is the source, and He gives strength generously. There’s one condition.
Relationship. It’s His conduit.
This benefit-to-us weighs heavy with wisdom. One such nugget – discovering the futility of self-determined strength…
“I’ve got to be strong for her.”
“I can handle this. I’ve been through worse.”
“When I set my mind to it, I can do it.”
“‘This is the word of the LORD… : Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.'” (Zechariah 4.6)
God wants us to live the day in the power and strength of His Spirit.
We don’t want to parent, work, plan, clean, cook or do anything in our strength alone. Help us turn to You. Lead us to know You better, to believe You pour out Your Spirit, giving us strength and power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
