Where Has God Brought You, Today?

Room full and lights low. Tears streamed down my face. In a room of strangers, I tried to stop.

“Rest. I’ve brought you here.”

Here. The She Speaks Conference. 740 women. And I don’t know 1.
Sojourning sisters in Christ. Each willing to share what she’s learned on her journey of development.

I’m really here. As a writer.

I didn’t set out to write. I like to speak, to mentor. God has grown this pleasure and passion in me. I never saw it coming.

DSC01732 We can’t see all the details of how God has uniquely created us. But boy, do we try!

We wear ourselves down wrongly concluding what we can’t be or do. We spend our selves doing things that never were ours to do. All, rather than surrendering our self to be spent by God. His way, in His time.

I’ve brought you here.

I’ve compared myself to every writer I admire. Procrastinated. Taken wrong turns. Focused on my inadequacies, rather than His power….And if I had a penny for every time I’ve thought, “What am I doing? What was I thinking?”

My tears? God knew I would. He knows we will. He waits. All the while loving us. He loves us to each new place.

As we look His way, He uncovers the intricacies of who He’s uniquely made each of us to be.

I’ve brought you here.

“Here” is today: a turn. a change. an end. a beginning.

Where has God brought you?
Wherever we are. God is there. With you. With me.

“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40.30-31)

  1. Teresa, I am so excited about the journey you are on and praying you will be spurred on and equipped every step of the way! In Christ, Anne

  2. So excited for this God-journey you’re on! The Lord has gifted you in so many ways and this newer path is just unfolding! Know that I’m here praying for you and cheering you on! I have known since I was ten that God created me to write and it is still hard to put one word in front of the other at times and obey the call! Love you and miss you . . . let’s get together soon for coffee and encouragement!

  3. Thank you, Teresa! This is beautiful! Part of it reminded me of what Emily Freeman said in her session, that you can wear yourself out looking around at everyone doing it all “better” than you. She said, yes, you can find people doing it better, but now YOU GET TO DO IT TOO!!!
