“For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17.20b)
…like a grain of a mustard seed. Have you ever thought about how revealing that is? God sees our hearts and knows how tiny our faith can be sometimes. Yikes!
At the same time, isn’t it a relief to know that whatever faith we muster, God responds to this? When we pray and live as God inspires, He will fulfill.
“He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5.24)
He will accomplish what He has put in our hearts to pray.
He will complete what He has put in our hearts to believe Him for.
Why do we struggle to believe He is faithful?
The psalmists have studied God’s word to know the person of God. They cling to these truths told and written by the believers who have lived before them. They have learned that the days of those who lived before them were hard, real hard.
Now their own times are hard. And so, they profess their faith in the God they’ve come to know – in writing and out loud – maybe through sobbing tears, maybe in the company of friends, maybe as they make themselves get out of the bed in the morning or when they can’t fall asleep at night.
Loving Jesus MOST we grow to believe WHO He is. We grow in believing ALL that we read about Him. We believe God is good. Perfectly good.
