Loving You MOST, Jesus {day 20} : Exposure

DSC00862Climbing the stairs to the wedding reception, a familiar foe emerged. Out of the blue, “I hope I see someone to talk to.”

Anxiety. Grateful for all 15 steps, I breathed deep, “Where is this coming from?” Halfway up, “I’m alone. Usually I’m with Terrell or joined at the hip with a baby.”

Driving home later I prayed, “God, I don’t ever want to feel like that again. …It’s another layer, isn’t it – my sources of worth.”

DSC00867Exposure, my door to freedom.
Anxiety and insecurity, fed by fear. Fear of what others think, fear of rejection, fear of displeasing, fear of all the worst possibilities …

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” (1 John 4.18a)

Perfect Love casts out fear.
God is Perfect Love.
God casts out fear.
He exposes it – and waits for us to invite, welcome, and know Perfect Love.

When we know we’re perfectly loved, we know we’re accepted, valuable, and the One Who loves us is ALWAYS working on our behalf.

Jesus wants to be our source of worth, for how we see ourselves. His bride, adorned in His love and grace.  Secure.

Jesus, lead us to respond to Your love by loving You MOST. Amen.

  1. Oh, what a comforting word, Teresa! Jesus touched my heart so sweetly yesterday as I pondered His meeting with the Samaritan woman at the well. This follow up word underlines for me that He goes out of His way to find me, expose my worst fears, and then to lead me to rest in His unfailing love for and even delight in me:)
