Loving You MOST, Jesus {day 17} : Communion

DSC01969“Worship was amazing.”
“Bible study was awesome today.”
“When they prayed for me…I’ve never felt peace like that before.”
“I don’t want to leave here. I feel like I really connected with God.”

Beautiful moments God gives us. Experiencing Him in the company of other believers. Retreats, prayer ministry, Bible study, worship services.

We enter, burdened with our problems and intent to draw near to God. Not knowing what to expect, but hopeful to receive of God. We need.

We talk with God, giving what we know how to give. We listen – to others, wanting to learn to listen to God. We watch – others, wanting to watch for God more than we do.

Omnipresent, omniscient God sees us try. He sees our hearts seek communion with Him. And He meets us.

DSC01972We leave, changed.
Always, He meets us with MORE than we can imagine. Always.
The circumstances we came with are the same, but we aren’t.

We’ve been MET. Loved on. Filled.
With You, willing. Through You, more ready to go forward because we remember that we don’t go forward alone – to forgive and let go of an offense, to remain in our job, to overcome potty training and sibling wars, to have hope for a lost child, to believe we can be healed of heartbreak…

Glimpses. Glimpses of what daily life can truly be like.
Free. In communion with Christ Jesus, free.
Absorbing, receiving His love. Relating, intentionally loving Him back. Communion.  Free through Christ – free in Christ – free for Christ. Yes!

God doesn’t reserve these experiences for special occasions. Sadly, we do. He wants us to have communion experiences like these with Him all the time.

“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.” (I John 4.16-17)

Jesus, when we’re linked-in-love with You, our attitude, perspective, and strength change. You change us. Teach us to abide in Your love in our life’s journey to love You MOST. Amen.

  1. Thanks, Teresa, for this hopeful thought early this morning. I’m so glad I read this entry just before settling down for my quiet time. I am running to Him right now with so much expectation that He will actually meet with me and do something inside of me that I cannot do for myself. I love the truth that He sees that I want to get close to Him and that it is His nature to respond to my longing – however weak and imperfect it may be:)
