Beginning with the Book of Ruth, I roamed through the scriptures, summarizing and journaling thoughts with each book. The more I read, the more I realized how much I didn’t know about God.
Things He said and did. The many facets of His character portrayed in story.
A hesitant start to a new spiritual discipline became a passionate personal pursuit to know God. The more I read, the more I was gratified… The more I read, the more I grasped how much God loves me, loves us.
“Pursue love…” (1 Corinthians 14.1) God is love.
Once I did a word study of the word “love”. Using a study Bible concordance, I looked up every scripture listed for the word “love”. Each day, before reading one, I prayed, “Jesus, grow my heart to grasp Your love for me.”
I encourage you to try it.
“…that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3.16-19)
To love Jesus MOST, we need to try to know Him most.
